HCS Virtual Learning Option 2020-2021

HCS will have a live full-day online option for parents/students who don’t feel comfortable attending class in person because of COVID. HCS will provide textbooks, workbooks, and other materials for parents to pick up and keep at home for Virtual Learning (VL).

Students will need to sign into class Zoom meetings so they can join their class virtually.

The teacher will provide live “all day” instruction to Zoom students at the same time as in class students (VL students can leave the Zoom on but not be present during recess, breaks, lunch time, etc. but will need to be present during the rest of the day).

Students will need to complete the work and turn it into the teacher in whatever format the teacher approves.

HCS Coronavirus Action Plan

The following measures will be put into place:
  • Temperatures of anyone entering the facility, children, parents, and staff will be taken. Anyone with a temp over 100.4 will not be allowed on campus. Your child may return to school after fever or acute respiratory illness (72 hours after last fever, without fever reducers, or 14 days if exposed to someone that has tested positive with COVID-19.) If your child has tested positive with COVID-19, a release from the Health Department will be necessary. Compliance with current Public Health Department criteria will be followed.
  • If anyone in your household has symptoms of COVID-19, or a positive test, your child must be excluded from school for the 14-day quarantine.
  • Staff and students will be monitored throughout the day for signs of illness.
  • We will practice social distancing as much as possible – use “airplane arms” to measure distance:
    • When lining up
    • While walking with class
    • In classroom
    • In restrooms
    • In lunchroom
    • In outdoor areas
    • At recess
    • At morning drop-off
    • At afternoon pick-up
  • Spread recess times and locations out to reduce the number of students in areas
  • Chapels will be recorded and shown in individual classrooms.
  • No off-campus field trips or service projects.
  • Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap.
  • Frequent and thorough sanitation by personnel of school facilities. We have an electrostatic sprayer that will be used only with CA approved disinfectants.
  • HCS will have a live full-day online option for parents/students who don’t feel comfortable attending class in person because of COVID. Some other boundaries will still be defined and applied (for example, we don’t want students jumping in and out of live online school every other day, live online school should be for true COVID/HCS Coronavirus Action Plan concerns)
