Director of Student Life
and Family Accounts

How exciting – this is Heritage’s 51st year! My name is Jen Gonzales and I work in the Heritage Admin Building. Over the last 12 years I have served in Christian schools. While my duties range from working with students to assisting Heritage staff, my primary responsibilities are 1) Building relationships with Academy and Junior High students and helping meet their needs, 2) Assisting Mr. Barrett with student discipline matters, and 3) Helping parents with their FACTS account. Whenever you have a question, feel free to call me using my direct line (661-871-4761). If you would like to adjust your account in any way or make a payment, stop by the Heritage Business Office window between 7:30am and 3:30pm and I (along with Irma Medina) or email me at jgonzales@hacademy.org and I will be happy to help you.

In addition to my work in the Heritage Business Office, I am Treasurer of the Parent Support Group (PSG) and Chair of That’s Amoré. I also have the fun honor of being Cheer Coach again. Last year was a great start to growing cheer. I look forward to our scheduled performance at the Condors game in January and the Knott’s Berry Farm Jamz competition in March! As I reflect on last year, God was so evident in my life and I found myself holding on to the anchor of hope I have in him. My husband (known as Mr. Mike around campus) and I were blessed with a son, who we named Matthias. His name means gift of God and that is exactly what he is. We look forward to finalizing his adoption this year. We also have two wonderful daughters who attend Heritage, Bella, who is in 7th grade this school year and, Klarisa, who is in 3rd grade. From one Heritage parent to another, please know that I am here to serve you, your student(s) and I pray for God’s blessing upon your lives!

Irma Medina
Business Office

Hello Heritage family, my name is Irma Medina (formerly Garcia – I got married last school year!). I invite you to come by the Heritage Business Office so I can meet you. I started at Heritage three years ago and it has been quite a journey. I remember praying and hoping during the summer of 2014 that God would allow me to be in a place where I can serve Him and invest in the lives of students. Heritage has become my second family, standing alongside me to celebrate my successes and pray with me during my times of need.

My journey began as a Heritage Aide, keeping students safe on the playground and equipping them for life circumstances. In the same year, I also interned in the Heritage Business Office assisting Jen Gonzales with daily tasks so I could grow vocationally and serve families directly. Last school year I continued working in the Heritage Business Office and I became the Afterschool Program Coordinator and Junior High Spanish Elective Teacher. This school year I will be teaching Spanish again at the Junior High and I have the opportunity to be in the Business Office full-time, which means I will be more available to answer questions pertaining to your student account and assist you with adjustments/payments.

I am excited to start the 2017-2018 school year with our theme GROWING IN WISDOM! This theme will be a good challenge for all staff and students to not only have knowledge of God’s word but to also practice it in our daily lives. My prayer for this school year is to serve you with love, compassion, and make this year memorable!

Sarah Cornell

Office Manager

I am so excited about our theme, Growing in Wisdom. Some of my fondest memories growing up are with my great-aunt who would plant a garden every summer. I remember going out early in the morning to dig in the dirt and plant a seed. She would place a little bit of sugar with the seed in the soil, then we got to cover it up. She would install a watering system that would disperse just the right amount of water for the seed to grow. The summers would always be so hot and I remember worrying that the plants would die! My aunt would smile and laugh, sharing with me that the soil would have everything it needed for the plant to grow bigger and bigger, stretching to the sun. Gardening was a lot of work and required a lot of waiting to finally have something grow out of the soil. I am excited to dig into God’s word and watch His wisdom grow in my heart this school year. The seasons will change and bring storms and sun, but His faithfulness is everlasting. As the Office Manager at Heritage Christian Schools, it is my honor and privilege to serve you in the following ways: RenWeb, Terra Nova Testing, Awards, School Events, and Daily School Office Operation.

Rebecca Newton

Front Desk

Welcome back to another amazing school year! I am so excited to work alongside you, for your students, and to assist you by answering all of your questions!  This is my second year working at Heritage and I love it!  When I started working last year, as an aide, I had no idea where God would be leading me!  It’s amazing to see God work through this school and these kids.  Because of working at the front desk, I am able to interact with many of the parents and students and am so blessed that my position allows for that!  As an alumni of Heritage, it is so exciting to be on the flip side of things and work for a school that impacted me while growing up! I love this school.  I love your students.  And I can’t wait to see what God will do through this next school year.
